Skip Stitch Blade

I am super excited to report Little Bit and I indulged in a purchase.  We ordered a Skip Stitch Blade.  This blade replaces the blade on your rotary cutter.  It will cut little holes evenly spaced in your fabric.  These holes can later be used to crochet borders into.  We are both really excited to use it.  We tried it on a small swatch of flannel and it came out really cute.  We need to practice a bit to get our stitches even when working them through fabric, but I see great potential.  My goal is to make some cute blankets for a friend who is having a baby soon.  We will keep you posted.

Poncho

Grandma has given Little Bit some beautiful homespun Alpaca yarn in pink and white. She has finally decided what she wants made out of it. A poncho. Here is the beginning of it. It's very soft and yummy to crochet with.

Little Bit's Quilt top

Little Bit has finished her first quilt top.  She wanted to piece random pieces together to go around her embroidery work.  She had embroidered the fairy free hand, no pattern on the cloth.  As well as her swirl and beaded flower/sun block.  This afternoon we will layer it and get her started on hand quilting.  She was given the option to hand quilt, machine quilt, or tie it and she chose hand quilting.  She loves sewing things by hand and is really excited to get started.  This blanket is for her doll "Lucy".  She has been reading the American Girl series which inspired her to get quilting.

Crochet Border

First time working a crochet border on fabric. I am hooked.  It was made for a friend going through a very difficult time.  A few of us got together and worked on this project.  A friend worked on the fabric and embroidery.  I worked on the border.  I love how it turned out.  A few flaws with my spacing of holes, but all in all for first time it came out beautiful.  The fabric is a linen and the crochet thread a bamboo blend.  Very soft.

Snowmen!

These little guys are just so cute.  The pattern came from a website called the Dapper Toad.  The ladies in our homeschool group were also making these.  I did the little one with the red scarf and Little Bit whipped out the other three.  The one on the right is her pom pom snowman.

Little Bit Creations

It does seem that Little Bit got more done this year than me.  These are felt ornaments she whipped up on her own with no help from me.

Jellyfish Ornaments

What tree is complete unless you have crocheted jellyfish ornaments by Little Bit!  Very cute.  A pattern found on Ravelry.

Sweaters

Not sure if I have ever posted my little knitted sweaters, Little Bit decided they needed to be in the photo shoot today since they are knitted.  Very precious to me.  There is a second white one somewhere.  One for each of us.  I plan on making up more individualized ones as well, that the kids will take to their own trees someday.

Gingerbread Man

Another Little Bit pattern.  This she drew on paper first, then transferred to her new birthday felt.  This little gingerbread man was a Christmas present for her brother.  He got a real kick out the Gingerbread Man stories we read again this year, so she surprised him with his very own.  It also got packed up today.  Next year, he will join us as we read our favorite stories again.

Santa 1 and Santa 2

This is Little Bit's pattern.  She designed herself and made Santa for her and her little brother.  Very sweet.  They are too funny.  The funniest part was watching her crochet along and writing down measurements and notes.  She was designing her own pattern at age 9.  Wild.......

My Favorite

I think my favorite holiday addition this year were the elves...... They are just so precious and added so much fun to our home each day hiding and finding them.  It is sad to pack them up but will be a real treat when we unpack them next year.  This pattern is The Tiny Elf by Spud and Chloe.  Google it to make one yourself.

Last Photo Shoot

All the new holiday decorations are getting one last photo shoot before being packed away for the year.  Today we are taking down Christmas........so sad, this year seemed to be extra fun since the whole family was crafting up a storm, even the oldest!
